1. Church Alive says:

Some areas for support:
-The Church Alive section has been launched to the Field.
-The Holy Spirit communicates the message. “God is Mind and holy thought is sending, Man, His image, hears His voice.” (Christian Science Hymnal, #73)
-Soul nurtures the workers who prepared this message as well as those
who are receiving it.
-The Mother Church workers are under the “supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on man by his heavenly Father omnipotent Mind,…” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p.387)

2. Dottie Lehuta says:

CHURCH AS “FAMILY”

Every relationship begins with God – divine Love. As we more clearly understand our unity with God, we feel the security of being loved, protected, blessed and completely accepted. The Love that is God makes us want to be our best, using each individual to love, support, and encourage others.

Our church “family” is filled with relationships and activities that give us opportunities to recognize our oneness with divine Love and the blessing that brings to our interactions with others – bringing out the best in each of us.

Hebrews 10:24 tells us, “Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.” All through the New Testament we are being told that love is not something you feel, but something you do. To me this is “Church Alive!”

3. Louis E Benjamin says:

Is this the right place to put our inspiration from our Prayer Watch work??? Anyway – here goes -

CHURCH ALIVE Watch – 24 February 2011 [from: Louis E Benjamin]

I started with Christ Jesus prophesy that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church built on the rock of Truth. The definition of hell in the Glossary of Science and Health includes ’suffering and self-destruction; self-imposed agony; … that which “worketh abomination or maketh a lie.”‘

So what is actually ‘that which worketh’ – what is doing the work – what is that which is alive, in operation, the continuity of existence and function, all the action?

My answer came from Mrs. Eddy’s writings:
……the Science of Christ and its spiritual interpretation,……this leaven of Truth is ever at work. It must destroy the entire mass of error, and so be eternally glorified in man’s spiritual freedom. [S & H 118]

Science and Health, ……is still at work, deep down in human consciousness, laying the axe at the root of error. [Mis. 285]

Both Science and consciousness are now at work in the economy of being according to the law of Mind, which ultimately asserts its absolute supremacy. [S & H 423]

I then rejoiced in the reality of these truths which uphold church.

4. Mark Swinney says:

Church Alive — Feb. 27th

The Bible says, “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee” (Luke 4:14). Clearly, he moved in the power and authority of the Spirit, 24 hours a day. As we do the same little by little, step by step, the Spirit that instituted the original Christian church, becomes evident in present day church organizations.

Progress in church reveals that Spirit has power and authority anywhere and at all times. At any moment and in any place, it’s never a question of how severe a difficulty may be, but always of the growing measure of Spirit in individual human consciousness.

5. Ruth Adjaye says:

Love, goodness, forgiveness, meekness constitute Church. Let us embrace and unite with Church alive summit. Mrs Eddy described Church as being the body of truth and love. We should share these qualities with our community.

6. Church Alive says:

Many thanks to all our pray-ers for your good work and for sharing this inspiration! Much good fruitage coming in. The Australasian Summit took place this past weekend, and several people have written in to share their gratitude for the event and feeling that their concept of church has been inspired and re-invigorated.

Some areas to continue supporting:

*Midwest Summit is coming up at the end of April, registration is now open. Boston Summit registration will be opening shortly. 35 branch churches/societies have signed up to hold Church Alive workshops on or around Annual Meeting weekend. “Neither red tape nor indignity can hinder the divine process” as these events unfold!

*Participants, planning committees, interested Christian Scientists, and TMC are all being brought together “in one accord, and in one place”

*On-going and on-growing participation not only in these events, but also in contributing to Church Alive (comments on the site, sharing writing, photos, church-experiences, and church-related testimonies). We’re all brother birds, singing on that same branch [pew].

7. Vienna says:

Hi Everyone and thank you for all the inspiration.

Today, I was thinking about the first line of Mrs. Eddy’s definition of Church – “The structure of Truth and Love.” The word OF jumped out at me. OF, as in belonging to, Truth and Love. That takes away all personal sense of ownership.

Also, lately I’ve been thinking about something that I’ve heard announced during church services – that it is a “healing service”. As I thought about this and “the structure of Truth and Love”, I thought well, of course it’s a healing service. We are in the structure, or dwelling place of Truth and Love – that everyone (here and everywhere actually) is in the presence of the truth that makes us free AND the unconditional, all-embracing love that is God, that is all-powerful. If we bring and maintain a sense of this reality and totally embrace the congregation in it (that includes ourselves), how can anyone leave the service and not have experienced the presence of the Christ?

8. Shirley -Roanoke, VA says:

The definition of Church as given in Science and Health is a source of inspiration to me. For instance,”affords proof of its utility” in usefulness: financial support, inspiration, demonstration, enlightenment, etc.

I love Mrs. Eddy’s unique use of words, as in “rousing the dormant understanding”. Dormant! indicating that we have always known the truths as Scripture assures us that it “brings all things whatsoever to your remembrance”.

Just think: we’ve always known Truth, God.

9. Lois in Chicago says:

from my Prayer Watch on Sunday Feb 27th:

Un. 61:12
“Human perception, advancing toward the apprehension of its nothingness, halts, retreats, and again goes forward; but the divine Principle and Spirit and spiritual man are unchangeable, — neither advancing, retreating, nor halting.”
What brings Church Alive is the understanding
that Church is not subject to the variables of
human belief. Church confirms the unchanging
divine Principle neither advancing, retreating
nor halting.

With great appreciation for all the Summit is
doing already, including the devotion expressed
in the Planning Committee,

Lois

10. Jenny Smucker says:

March 8th, Ohio
The Church Alive! Summits represent renewal, uplift, creative thinking, progress, healing.
The carnal mind’s resistance to good is powerless to allow creative, progressive ideas to stagnate.
“Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action.” Science and Health, page 283
The progress of this event is thus natural and protected by God.

11. Philippa in UK says:

Like no. 3 I hope this is the right place to share ideas for Prayer Watch 8 March.

The definition of Church in Science and Health ,page 538, starts as “Church. The structure of Truth and Love;” Truth and Love are names for God, and building on that structure some other names for God are Mind, Soul, Principle, and Life are all made up of the highest qualities. I love to think how every single comment, prayer, thought that is coming to each and everyone is structured by coming from one of these, God like, qualities!

As man is God’s reflection then the Church’s whole structure is moulded after God’s nature and what an out reach and attraction that has.

“As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good. Thus may each member of this church rise above the oft-repeated inquiry, What am I? to the scientific response: I am able to impart truth, health, and happiness, and this is my rock of salvation and my reason for existing.”My 165; 17 .

12. Manfred Krüger Hamburg Germany says:

When I prayed I focussed on a passage from Mis.Wr.page 354; 15-19. In my Prayer I filled in the word “Church” before the
word “body”.
For a common Cause!

13. Poonam Likhi says:

I was inspired by these lines from S&H ‘Love inspires, illumines, designates and leads the way.’
All these summits and workshops are planned by The Mother Church and Branch Churches all over the world due to love for mankind. God, Love who has inspired to spread the healing message in this way will illumine the path for unfoldment of these divine activities and lead to their harmonious completion and fulfillment of purpose.

With love,
Poonam Likhi,
Chandigarh, INDIA

14. betsy mitchell says:

Jesus said: “Behold I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry here in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24.

We are all as a church endued NOW with God’s power. God has not withheld it nor has it stagnated into form, duty, smugness or obligation. God continues to endue church moment after moment, day in and day out with His power from on high. With that power we naturally feel the confidence and joy of engaging, participating, involving with our fellow man to share that power in simple everyday ways that always bring the fulness of that power.

We don’t have to tarry anymore. Now has God endued us with His promised power from on high. Love’s immediate power makes us alive. Alive to feel God’s power each moment. Especially when we are with His little ones, our fellow man. Our aliveness comes from God. He has endued us.

15. Caron Cosden says:

Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” (Matt 5:14)

I am thinking of this light as the Christ which is present in each one of us; the Love and Truth that is Life. We are meant to let it shine, to allow its manifestation in every thought and action.

Jesus mentioned a city — not one person, but a collection of individuals. Church!

On a hill — perhaps indicating that the love and the thought that emanates from this group must be elevated above the world’s, in order to be visible.

We all know it takes extra effort to walk up a hill. In our prayer life, this is like the resistance of materiality that must be overcome, to reach the level of consciousness that heals. We should not be surprised or discouraged when encountering this resistance, but must persist through all the assaults and distractions.

Jesus shared: “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” To me, this is the mission of church, to overcome the limitations imposed by the world’s false beliefs through the action of Christ, Truth. This mission is supported by the entire power of the universe.

16. Lois in Chicago says:

Friends: As the program is being finalized and speakers secured I found myself thinking about the Beatitudes as the substance of our program. Church has such a special role in comforting those that mourn, peacemaking, assuring that the Kingdom is still at hand and intact when were feeling persecuted. Church is also a vital avenue for expressing mercy, living our meekness, being willing to have our spirits revived. Could Church Alive mean we can admit that Church is a word about happiness? That Phillips translation of ‘blessed are they’ as ‘happy are they…’ invites us to see that all the peacemaking, healing, reassuring, humbling (that is requisite to experience true church) is actually happifying.
Whatever effort we make on behalf of church it pales before the blessing we receive. There is a promise of us being less begrudging about church and more rejoicing of the incredible gift.

Happy for us!

Lois

17. Sarah Eastman says:

From my Prayer Watch on April 1st:

The thought of the Holy Spirit communicating the message reminded me of this sentence from Science and Health, p. 284, “The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man.” The only true communication comes from God and it is always good; it continuously flows from God; and it is always from God to man. God is the infinite source of all ideas necessary to support church, “the structure of Truth and Love,” and these ideas are always supplied in the measure that they are needed and in a way that they can be tangibly felt. They include kindness, joy, creativity, humility, energy, consecration, attentiveness, and all the spiritual qualities that contribute to church’s healing mission.

18. Jane Shepard says:

Prayer Watch, April 4th

Praying for church brings to mind the statement,”Our church is built on the divine Principle,Love.” (Mary Baker Eddy,S+H p35) It’s about healing, not based on human personality, but the Christ message from God to man, which Jesus best represented and demonstrated. Thinking about the spiritual law and order of divine Principle, quiets all fear and doubt. We become assured of the validity of our place in church, its purpose and place in the community and feel the unifying peace divine Love imparts.

19. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer Watch, April 9th

Church Alive. I just love those words together. That’s what it’s all about. Church is alive. It is not only “the structure of Truth and Love” (S&H 587), but it’s also the structure of Life itself. So it has to be alive by its very nature. And absolutely nothing and nobody can stop it. It is unlimited in its healing potential. And everyone can see, know, and demonstrate it!

20. Susan Tish says:

I love the words describing church membership and participation written by Mary Baker Eddy in Miscellany, “As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good…God grant that this church is rapidly nearing the maximum of might, – that means that build to the heavens, – that it has indeed found and felt the infinite source where is ALL, and from which it can help its neighbor.” (MY 165-166). I love thinking of myself on my way to Chicago as coming be one active portion of this stupendous whole! The good we do for church and for each other identifies us not only with our own individual church but with universal goodness in each and every place! Thus may we feel a part of the stupendous whole of good!

21. Sandy B. from Florida says:

Prayer Watch, April 26, 2010

I prayed along these lines: Our beloved Church and movement of Christian Science, is already a complete, whole idea of God, and therefore reflects the vitality, goodness, harmony and boundless love – love reflected in Love – of every idea of God. It is under God’s law of unfolding good, of God’s law of unchanging divine order and harmony. Our Church reflects the activity of the Christ-healing, the ever-presence and all-power of God. Our Church indeed “affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race…” (S&H, p583:14-15). The theme for this year’s Annual Meeting, “Church Alive”, indeed is an angel thought whispered into the ear of our Mother Church workers, and expresses the vibrancy of Life divine.

22. Sandy B. from Florida says:

Prayer Watch, April 29, 2011 (This time I got the year right, unlike my post from my Prayer Watch on April 26th!) My prayer today centered on enthusiasm and gratitude for this precious gift of our Christian Science movement! This enthusiasm and gratitude shines in our hearts and so we naturally express this joy, which brings Church Alive for each and every one of us – and is attractive to those honest seekers of Truth who are searching for the Christ-healing. I cherish this pearl of great price!

23. Patricia Brugioni says:

Last Sunday I was absolutely washed over with love and the thought came to me with such joy and light ‘God is raising his temple in our heart.’ I felt the simplicity of just looking up and letting the light of Love fill the whole house! ‘and if thine eye be single thy whole body will be full of light’!

24. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer watch, April 30th

All week I’ve been praying and knowing that the Church Alive Summit in Chicago this weekend can have a major healing effect on the whole world as this Science of the Christ is leavening thought. It can change the effects of the winds in the southern part of the US and disruptions around the world to the “still, small voice of calm”, peace, and joy to all mankind. (Hymn 49)

25. Wendy Wylie Winegar says:

May 19
Praying with the quote from Ephesians 2:19 “fitly framed together” with all activities, ideas, personnel, visitors, family, friends in their perfect place building harmoniously the entire concept of Church Alive.

26. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer watch, May 21st

Grateful to know that we’re all still here, and very much alive! As I continue to pray for progress within our Church, certainly an expression of infinite Life, I’m seeing it. I recently attended a branch church I previously considered rather “backwards” in its approach. But of course my vision was in error. Because this time I saw wonderful signs of progress and Life, and Love. Yes, our Church is very much alive and growing, individually and collectively!

27. Wendy Wylie Winegar says:

Yesterday’s thoughts (May 20)

Thought it would be a good idea to pray about finances and funding for Boston Summit and Church alive activities and God’s first response to that idea was, “Open the floodgates!” Open up thought in all directions to let good flow in and out; remove all limits from thinking and watch God, the source and giver of all good, feed like a day with Jesus and the multitudes. Waaay too fun.

28. teresachua says:

God’s activity is our only activity and everyday we can be expectant that only His goodness is taking place for He our Life maketh all things new always that we may continue to grow in grace, keeping the Church Alive.

29. Sylvie says:

Who is in charge of the Summit? Divine Love. And it will go according to his plans. Each one involved is empowered and inspired by divine Love to say and do the right thing, at the right time. No chaos involved, no hesitation, no confusion.
Love for church brought this idea up and it can only bless the church and move everyone forward. It will help us see better that our branch churches are the representatives of the “structure of Truth and Love”, that they are essential to their communities, and that everyone wants to be in this structure. Our churches are not insignificant, they are essential.

30. Kathy says:

God knows no specific “human activity”, but He does know His allness, and that allness includes only that which reflects and expresses His nature. This activity must forward spiritualization of thought in order to glorify God. It must be for the purification of thought and for healing. Everyone touched by this activity must gain a better sense of God’s will – the only will – and His plan for His church. Then Church Alive will have accomplished God’s mission.

31. Wendy Wylie Winegar says:

Harmony – concordant thoughts, activities — joyous interconnections — praise singing out with all things working together for good. Holiness. A very healthy Church alive, just out there effortlessly expressing Mind and Soul — Happy God Days.

32. Paula Jensen-Moulton says:

Church Alive- Prayer Watch: June 1st.

When waking this morning, my thought with the Creator, I turned in prayer (mindful of the prayer watch today) to that first, simple opening fact in Science and Health, “To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings.” And I prayerfully thought about today’s blessings for the whole world, for church, for humankind.

Having recently visited with family in New Zealand, it occurred to me that today, June 1st is almost tomorrow, June 2nd there. Human time tables and places have nothing to do with the “today” in Mary Baker Eddy’s statement. The only today is the divine consciousness of good, the eternal now: timeless, ageless, instantly receptive to divine Love’s presence. Here we live freely, fearlessly, and harmoniously in the kingdom of heaven. That’s where everyone is, right at this moment. This powerful truth, assuring all of us around the world of infine blessings, is the spiritual fact I’m staying with “today” always!

33. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer watch – June 5th

What a joy to participate in the Church Alive Summit here in Boston. You can just feel the energy, enthusiasm, activity, and love. It isn’t about change … it’s about renewal … of the Spirit!

34. Colleen says:

Church Alive – Prayer watch – June 9th

Hymn 176 (we sang during the Annual Meeting)is such an inspiration. The “Word” caught my prayerful attention.

Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Science and Health p. 503 “Divine Science, the Word of God, saith to the darkness upon the face of error, “God is All-in-all,” and the light of ever-present Love illumines the universe.”

35. Philippa UK says:

The universe of Spirit is peopled with spiritual beings, and its government is divine Science. Man is the offspring, not of the lowest, but of the highest qualities of Mind.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures

This quote from spirituality.com is my prayer watch basis for today.
To know that people everywhere as the reflection and offspring of Mind God are safe, secure under this Divine Government. It is the “still small voice of infinite Mind that is speaking and permeating each one of us
with spiritual ideas that bring peaceful and useful solutions to challenging situations.

36. Susan Gill says:

prayer watch June 23

“We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God.” Man 15:7

Our infinite God did not create a finite experience, such as a clique. A “clique” = a narrow, small exclusive group of people who are friendly only with one another in a clannish way. A clique = in-crowd, clan, knot; gang, pack; sect, faction. Church Alive is never a clique.

“God is universal; confined to no spot, defined by no dogma, appropriated by no sect.” Mis 150:26

In Mary Baker Eddy’s writings the word “infinite” is used 447 times; in the Gospels the word “multitude/multitudes” almost 80. I am praying with these citations and spiritual ideas today, and applying them to Church.

Jesus was followed by multitudes because he saw “all”, not just a chosen few, but “all” as equal members of Love’s infinite family, warmly cherished by the inclusive Word of God. We can also, today, eliminate exclusiveness and experience the prolific Church.

“The Christianity that is merely of sects, the pulpit, and fashionable society, is brief; but the Word of God abideth.” Mis 111:21

37. Susan Gill says:

prayer watch June 30th

Today I closed the door on mortal mind and consciously yielded to divine Life. Life, the essence of Church, empowers all aspects of a healing Christian Science church and its members to be: abounding, breathtaking, ceaseless, diligent, energetic, fresh, glorious, hardy, imperishable, kindly, large-minded, magnanimous, new, overflowing, perennial, quintessential, resilient, soaring, tireless, unfettered, victorious, wonderful, youthful, zesty!

“Progress is spiritual. Progress is the maturing conception of divine Love; it demonstrates the scientific, sinless life of man and mortal’s painless departure from matter to Spirit, not through death, but through the true idea of Life. – and Life not in matter but in Mind.”
My 181:8

38. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer watch – July 2nd

I love progress! Mrs. Eddy tells us that it’s the law of God. (See S&H 233:6-7) But if God’s creation is already perfect, then why do we need to make progress?

In my work this morning I was reminded again of the 2nd paragraph of Mrs. Eddy’s definition of Church (page 583). She speaks of progress using such words as proof, found, rousing, apprehension, demonstration, casting out, healing. And we know that there can’t be any resistance to this progress. By the very spiritual nature of Church (1st paragraph), this progress is God’s promise to all, including our churches.

Thank you, God! And thank you, Mary Baker Eddy!

39. Barbara Myers says:

July 3, 2011
We know that a prayer, each Christian Science treatment does not end with being uttered but continues to unfold and accomplish forever (Isa. 55) because it is the Word of Life. Similarly, Church – each service, Sunday School class – every activity, has this life in itself of perpetual unfoldment and fulfillment.
And since “We cannot deny that Life is self-sustained, …” (S&H 390) – we cannot be deceived into doubting that Life’s idea Church is always self-sustained. It is complete – with life, liveliness, livelihood – including everything and everyone needed in this, Christ’s endowment to mankind of reciprocal living love.

40. Ann Shirley Finster says:

July 3 Prayer Watch

There is no power opposed to God.

We are a church of healers. Our church is alive with healing.
I am thinking again about how healing occurs. Turning thought to what is true and good and permanent. Our Church is alive with practical healing applied to the here and now immediate imposition.. oppression… lie about God and man.

I am thankful for the understanding that truly God cares for man. I am grateful  to share the demand for healing work through a Church Alive, a church  ” designed to be built on the Rock, Christ; even the understanding and demonstration of divine Truth, Life, and Love, healing and saving the world…” Man. 19:2-4

41. Kathy says:

Let us watch for signs of healing activity as a result of Church Alive.

God sends His children ideas, and if an idea is truly from divine Mind, then, if acted upon, it will have results that bless the individual and humanity.

These Bible characters acted upon God’s messages to them: Moses and children of Israel – freed from slavery; David and Goliath – enemy destroyed; Christ Jesus – continuous instantaneous healings.
God’s ideas do not return to man void of fulfillment.

42. Colleen says:

Prayer Watch – July 7

SH p. 44
“His disciples believed Jesus to be dead while he was
hidden in the sepulchre, whereas he was alive, demonstrating within the narrow tomb the power of Spirit
to overrule mortal, material sense.”

Isn’t that power of Spirit alive in the hearts and motives of us all.

43. Catherine Stephens says:

The Daily Prayer, written by Mary Baker Eddy and based on the teachings of Christ Jesus, elevates the concept of government: “‘Thy kingdom come;’ let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!” (Manual 41).

God’s government alone establishes perfect health, infinite resources and harmony for ourselves, church, and the world!

44. Truus says:

The fact that anything could suggest that the church is on the wane is absolute proof that it is not… just by the law of opposites.

An error cannot suppose to exist with out a truth to oppose.

If it was not true that the church is alive and thriving then one would never hear an opposing comment about it. The error would cease to claim existence because it had nothing to mimic as its supposed opposite.
So everytime you hear a negative comment about church you can smile because you have just had it proven to you that the reverse is true.

We have a vibrant, active, progressive church and it is unfolding daily to our understanding and those who are called to it one by one.

45. Bill Stay says:

Two of the most important statments that Mrs Eddy makes, namely the Scientific statement of being and her definition of Man, start with negations. When giving a treatment we need to clear thought first of erroneous suggestions before pouring in Truth. A good analogy is the landing strips that were cleared in the Burma jungle (during World War II) before supplies could be flown in to the Allied forces.

46. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer watch – August 6th

What a joy to pray for Church Alive. Today I was thinking of how alive our Church is because it is expression of Life itself. And I’m also grateful to know that within that Church is love – love for God and love for our fellow man. “For Love alone is Life …” (Hymn 30 – MBE)

47. Colleen says:

Prayer watch – August 11

I’ve been thinking about, “The supremacy of Spirit was the foundation on which Jesus built.” SH p. 138 Spirit is really the greatest thought force in authority, power, control…impelling all good….meeting all human needs.

48. Bill Stay says:

The word beach-head comes from World War II and is defined as “an area on a hostile shore occupied to secure further landing of troops and supplies.”
We can see our branch Churches and all the activities they include as “spiritual beach-heads in human consciousness.” Using our Leader’s definition of Church and the Church Manual we are fully equipped to man and maintain these beach-heads.
On page 39 of Unity of Good Mrs Eddy wrote ” As soldiers of the cross we must be brave and let Science declare the immortal status of man…..” so onward Christian soldiers!

49. Jan True, Laguna Hills, CA says:

Prayer watch – September 24th

What a joy it is to pray for Church Alive. And to know that this is God’s church, here for the fulfilling of His purpose of blessing and healing all mankind.

50. Paulette says:

So grateful to be part of the support team today. My blog is in the form of a prayer.
Dearest Father-Mother God,
Thank you for Christ Jesus, our Way-Shower and for Mary Baker Eddy, our Leader who discovered and founded Christian Science and The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, MA. Thank you for all those working in Boston and for all those working in Branch Churches around the world. Thank you that we all are satisfied to be workers in your vineyard and door keepers in your beloved church. May we all grow to exemplify what our Leader wrote in an article “Overflowing Thoughts” from Miscellaneous Writings: “Oh, may the love that is talked, be felt! and so lived, that when weighed in the scale of God we be not found wanting. Love is consistent, uniform, sympathetic, self-sacrificing, unutterably kind; even that which lays all upon the altar, and, speechless and alone, bears all burdens, suffers all inflictions, endures all piercing for the sake of others, and for the kingdom of heaven’s sake” (p. 312).

51. Peter says:

For more than twenty years I have prayed daily to know that there is one church, the church universal and triumphant and that the Mother Church in Boston is the highest human manifestation of this church. Included in this starting point is the recognition that home, temple, body, consciousness and church are coincident concepts.
This platform always unfolds fresh inspiration daily.
I reckon that this prayerful work has been a protection from all ‘church decline beliefs’ and other such stuff. The church I know cannot be less than what is or shrink to be less than what it is. Church has to be full power constant maximum shining. God has no power cuts or fade outs.
Church less than thoroughly alive just does not add up except as 2+2=5.

52. Jan True says:

What a blessing to be part of the Church of Christ, Scientist. Christian Science and The First Church of Christ, Scientist aren’t the same thing, because Mrs. Eddy didn’t discover a Church. But The Mother Church and all its branches and activities are the avenue through which we find Christian Science. I am so grateful that Christian Science, the law of God, the law of Spirit, is the only attraction. And that our Church is very much of Alive in Life.

53. Jan True says:

Prayer watch – February 11, 2012

Apparently others are not currently posting here about the inspiration from their work for Church Alive. But I’ll share the fruitage from today. Until I got my reminder a couple of days ago I had forgotten that I had signed up to pray today. It turned out that today was a State Institutional Committee workshop in here in California and I was scheduled to conduct it. This was a major first for me never having conducted a whole-day meeting before. But it was a joy and a privilege to particulate with fellow institutional workers in looking at some new and old ways in which our chaplains and workers are sharing the power of the Word with the receptive heart in jails, prisons, and other facilities. “The seeker of Truth with find it.” (MBE)

54. Romee says:

Such a good idea these prayer days for our Church Alive Summit meeting in Birmingham. On Wednesday I read on this subject at our meeting. “In Christ all shall be made alive (awake, watching, praying, loving, giving, finding inspiration) “And may Thy Word enrich (purify, elevate) the affections (motives, acts) of all mankind (all of us at the summit) and govern them.” Manual by Mrs Eddy. Psalms 115;12 “The Lord is mindful of us and blesses us. “What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits to me?” Psalms 116:12. Christian Science brings the sunlight of Truth…..It neutralizes error with Truth” S&H. “O Love divine, we thank Thee that good alone is here.” (Hymn 374) “Church: The structure of Truth and Love…” S&H. Someone expressed her thanks at the Wednesday meeting to have this structure of church in our lives to keep us busy on the right track and learn so much working with God and other church members. This is a little sample of my thoughts for the Summit. We all look so much forward to it and like to thank all involved organizing this amazing event. What a gift. We are blessed.
Prayer watch Friday 9th March.
