Report of recent TMC Youth Summit in Kampala
March 2011. John Kinguru, Clerk’s Representative for East Africa, attended the recent TMC Youth Summit in Kampala. Here are some excerpts from his report on the event:
KAMPALA YOUTH SUMMIT
The Kampala youth summit was held on December 11th 2010. In all there were about 230 participants from Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya. Both Uganda and Rwanda had all their registered Societies and CSO’s well represented. The Tanzanians had a delegation from Mwanza. Kenya had a sizable delegation, as well. I was able to spend time with the various groups and get to know them better. The summit was being held at the same venue we were lodging and this was very convenient.
The summit title was “Building bridges of Love, peace and unity” and it was held at Pope Paul VI memorial hotel. Keynote speeches were given by Christian Science Practitioners from the US and South Africa. There were five workshops covering how to share Christian Science, as well as the practice, class instruction, Sunday School, and Christian Science Organizations. It took the whole day, and there was wonderful fruitage at the end of the day. It should be noted not all attending were Christian Scientists and those not acquainted with the religion participated fully even during the question and answer session. The organizers were even able to schedule entertainment — mostly of folk dancing and singing. In all it was a great time to know each other and also deepen one’s understanding and commitment to Christian Science.

Dear John: Thank you so much for sharing the results of this meeting. It is heartwarming to hear of attendance by newcomers to Christian Science and their ability to participate. Mrs. Eddy would certainly be smiling to see that her discovery has reached out so far beyond North America to embrace the world in God’s love.
