Marceil’s career path wasn’t exactly a straight line. After training as an actress, she worked in sales, took a year off to do organic gardening, wrote a few unpublished novels, got a clerical job to pay the bills, won awards as a wood sculptor, served on a crime prevention council, was active in her church as well as an interfaith alliance, took up drumming, and along the way did volunteer work in New York City jails, Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan, and a center for recovering addicts in Seattle.

For years it looked as if she was on a zigzag path leading nowhere, but there was one golden thread weaving through all these experiences. It was the pursuit of a spiritual practice—a way of life that she was learning from her study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Gradually this led her into a healing ministry through which she could help others recognize the golden thread of God’s presence in their own lives, guiding through highs and lows, providing purpose, comfort, security, and healing. Marceil began full-time work as a practitioner of Christian Science healing in 1986 and became an authorized teacher of this Science in 1994.

As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Marceil has shared the message of Christ-healing with a wide variety of audiences in such places as community centers, churches, high school and university classrooms, medical schools, prisons, professional conferences and conventions, art galleries, homeless shelters, care facilities, youth meetings, and retirement homes. In addition to lecturing, she currently serves as co-manager of the Board of Lectureship.
