“Sometimes the very first impression people have of Christian Science is through a public lecture. But it’s even more important that they take home a lasting impression.”
Kevin Graunke brings this concept to his lecturing. He’s devoted his entire professional career to communicating with people—through the media, business-to-business advertising, working with state and local government officials, and through the full-time public practice of Christian Science healing.
Kevin says, “Communicating spiritual concepts in a Christian Science lecture is a special opportunity for both the audience and the speaker to participate actively in the message; to have the lecture become a dialogue, where everyone can make the ideas their own—to take them home and employ them.”
He adds, “Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures how the clergy should ’uplift the standard of Truth.’ That’s what a Christian Science lecture needs to do—lift up the Christ and raise the audience spiritually, so that they’ll ‘love to grapple’ with these new, right ideas and, as Mrs. Eddy says, ‘broaden their concepts.’”
Kevin began his career as a journalist and later spent more than 17 years in the field of industrial advertising and corporate communications in Milwaukee. He also served the Christian Science Committee on Publication for over a decade, both as the Committee for Wisconsin and in key positions for the Manager’s Office in Boston. Today he actively practices and teaches Christian Science healing and also writes for The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel. He also has been interviewed on the Sentinel’s Radio Edition.
As a lifelong Christian Scientist, Kevin has witnessed the restorative power of scientific prayer many times, both for himself and his family. This includes healings of severe food poisoning, a broken leg, a life-threatening children’s illness, serious head and back injuries, and business and financial emergencies.
His wife, Bonnie, is a Christian Science nurse. They have two grown daughters.
