Ricardo E. Saldivar, CS

As the son of a Mexican national and a United States citizen, Ricardo was raised in south Texas along the US/Mexico border. His childhood included a rich blend of cultures. Growing up with the best of both dynamic heritages opened his thought to the possibility of expressing ideas in different ways. He also learned to treasure all people and to understand that most individuals are looking for the same thing: a safe and prosperous future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

From his parents Ricardo also gained a deep interest in the arts and community service. This led him to earn a communications degree from the University of Texas–Pan American followed by a brief career in theatre and then to a job with The Christian Science Monitor. Later he worked in the Office of the Clerk of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and then as marketing manager for The Herald of Christian Science and the Christian Science Sentinel. His area of expertise focused on the US Hispanic community and Latin America, but he also has an extensive knowledge of many other cultures and countries.

During all these years and occupations, Ricardo continued to grow in his understanding of God and God’s great love for all mankind, as presented by Christian Science. He applied what he learned and witnessed many healings, both physical and situational, that came about through prayer. In 2004, Ricardo’s desire to help others through Christian Science treatment overshadowed all other career prospects and led him to full-time work as a Christian Science practitioner. The public practice of Christian Science has become his life’s work, and he says that words can’t really express the heartfelt joy he feels in helping others in this wonderful way.

Ricardo lives with his wife in Marengo, Illinois, and has practitioner offices in both downtown Chicago and Rockford.
