Tips for filming lectures
We’re looking for more lecture videos! If you’d like to film a lecture and have it posted on christianscience.com, here are some guidelines to follow.
- The video should be in the highest quality possible, i.e., High Definition video. If HD is not an option, please have the SD video in a wide screen format.
- Acceptable Video Formats
– Standard Definition Video – SD 16:9
– High Definition – HDV 1080 or DVCPRO 1080

- Consider filming the speaker off center or at slightly different angles rather than always having the speaker in the center of the shot.

- For best results, use more than one camera for the shoot. A one camera shoot is acceptable, but there must be no breaks or gaps in the filming. You may need more than 60 minutes of film to record some lectures. Newer cameras can easily record for longer periods.
- The audio must be clean and clear. We prefer audio from a mic that feeds directly into the camera.
- All the cameras need to film only the lecturer. To avoid privacy issues, no direct face shots of the audience can be used. Film the audience from behind. Another note: It’s best if the lecturer is not wearing stripes or plain white.

- Send raw footage to the Board of Lectureship where we will view your film to see if it can be edited and posted on christianscience.com.
- If the video is edited by another party, we need a version that has no graphics, titles, animations, music or audio other than what was filmed at the lecture (raw footage).
- The sponsoring branch, lecturer, and videographer/contractor will need to sign this copyright agreement and give or send it to the lecturer and to Erik Scheel at the address below.
